Dairy Ashford Preschool Skate
We tried out the Dairy Ashford Preschool Skate this morning because it is inside and the summer heat has become unbearable. You can bring any type of push toys, strollers, tricycles, plasma cars, or use their skates. The charge is $5 per child (no charge for adults:) and it lasts from 10-12 each Friday. The 2 year olds in our group were uncertain at first, but eventually got comfortable and began to play. Everyone brought one or two toys and all the moms there seemed comfortable with sharing. So whatever was on the floor was pretty much available for your child if its owner wasn't using it (which was great since we play with our own all the time at home and I got to see what else our children liked.) The facility provided some balls and hula hoops as well for the kids to play with. You could essentially provide the same environment with an open gym (at church, rec center, school) and any group of kids under 5 or so since the parents are providing most of the toys. Overall a good experience especially if you live close by. (I'd personally like a little more air-conditioning in there though.)

Discovery Green Downtown Park
Today we visited the newDiscovery Green Downtown Park. It is a very nice park with water play. Unfortunately we got rained out and their was a park official keeping everyone off the all metal play equipment because of the lightning/thunder. We look forward to trying it again. Street parking was easy - meters, but they take credit cards ($1.25/hr)We brought lunch so I can't tell you about the food. It's worth checking out the park. Make sure to bring towels and a change of clothes.
